Mr. Smitty Counts, age 62, a resident of Carol Dr. in Columbia, passed away on Monday, September 28, at his residence.
Funeral Services for Mr. Counts will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, at Williams Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery off Kedron and Joe Brown Road.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Born August 3, 1947 at the King's Daughters Hospital, he was the son of Luther and Gladys Rummage Counts. Smitty retired from the convenience store on James Campbell Blvd., and worked for the Charles C. Parks Wholesale and Grocery Company for many years. He worked for service stations for 26 years. He was a huge UT football fan.
He is survived by his children: Smitty Travis Counts, Troy Stacey Counts of Columbia; a brother: Don Amelia Counts of Columbia; two sisters: Linda J.R. Stewart and Shirley Bobby Neese of Columbia; grandchildren: Troy Counts, Jr., Kayla LeAnn Counts, Justin Stone, Cody Counts and Brianna Counts all of Columbia; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronnie Counts and Luther Counts, Jr.; Patsy Sims the mother of Smitty Travis and Troy counts.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Harris, Michael Cooper, Joe Anderson, Justin Stone, Glenn Bates, Jim Russell, Jeff Russell, Matthew Cooper and Troy Counts, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Smitty's friends.
