Mr. Smith Hayes, 66, a resident of Campbellsville Rd. in Pulaski, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services for Mr. Hayes will be conducted Monday, October 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Howard Leighton officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Lawrenceburg VFW Post #1618. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the son of late James Hicks and Grace Smith and the husband of Dorothy Vaughn McCracken Hayes. He was retired mechanic from Saturn, an Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam Era and attended the Church of God in Pulaski.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mike Hayes of Pulaski; a brother, Larry Hayes of Pulaski; two step-sons, Danny McCraken and Mike Donovan, both of Lynnville; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by former wife, Charlotte Cliffton Hayes. Pallbearers will be family.
