Simon Baker

July 26, 1928 — January 25, 2007

Mr. Simon ?Si? ?Mr. Sunshine? Baker, age 78, a long time resident of Crestland Drive in Columbia, passed away on Thursday, January 25 at Rosewood Manor.

Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be conducted Saturday at
2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends from 4:00 ? 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

The Santa Fe native was the son of the late Curtis Baker and Essie Alderson Baker and the husband of the late Ina E. Dunn Baker. Mr. Baker was the retired owner and operator of Sunshine Cleaners where he worked with his wife for 33 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of the Woodmen of the World and a 57 year member of the American Legion.

He is survived by one daughter: Rhonda Tommy Richardson of Murfreesboro; a son: Les Judy Baker of Gardendale, AL; one step-daughter: Elaine Kreps of Hanceville, AL; one brother: Dick Vera Baker of Culleoka and one sister: Jane Collins of Columbia; grandchildren: Candace Vance Donahoo of Helena, AL, Matthew Baker of Gardendale, AL, Wyatt Richardson of Murfreesboro, Bryan Sharon Kreps of Cullman, AL, Pam Kreps of Hanceville, AL, Jason Beth Kreps of Cullman, AL; great-grandchildren: Andrew Kreps, William Kreps and Mary Katherine Kreps, all of Cullman, AL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bugg and Henry Baker.

Pallbearers will be grandson Matthew Baker and nephews, Jerry Baker, Tommy Baker, Curtis Baker, Milton Baker, Tommy Collins, James Kelley, and Glenn Mash, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Richardson, Jeff Collins and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Maury Co. Unit, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all who were so good to visit, call, pray and for extending your kindness preceding the death of our loved one.
