Mrs. Shirley Tankka, age 86, a resident of Mooresville Pike in Columbia, passed away on Sunday, November 2, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services for Mrs. Tankka will be conducted Friday, Nov. 7 at Uht Funeral Home in Westland; MI. Burial will be in the Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, MI.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Born in Cheboygan, MI, she was the daughter of the late Roy Bedell and the late Myrtle M. Kirkpatrick and the wife of the late Tauno Tankka. She retired from the GM plant in Plymouth, MI. She attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in MI and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Columbia.
She is survived by her daughter: Denise Roy "Sam" Brantley of Columbia; grandchildren: Roy Jennifer Brantley of Iron City, TN, Charles "Tom" Kara Nolan Brantley of Columbia and Nina Blanchard of Lincoln Park, MI; son-in-law: James Blanchard of Taylor, MI; great grandchildren: Heather, Stephanie, Charley, Vanessa, Jessica, Jenna, Austin, Caitlyn, Charleigh, Leann and Olivea; one great great grandchild; half brothers and sisters: Harry, Gilbert, Jeannie, Adelaid, Evie, Faye and Doris. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Blanchard; a granddaughter: Hope Lynn; a sister: Norma; a brother: Alvin; two half brothers: Hank and Lucky; a step grandson: Samuel.
Pallbearers will be Roy Brantley, Tom Brantley and friends of the family.
