Shirley Lee Putnam

February 22, 1935 — December 20, 2017

Shirley Putnam, age 82 of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away at Maury Regional Hospital on December 20, 2017, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Shirley was born in Michigan, to the late Harold Julius and Marie Alfilda Curtis. She had one brother, the late Larry Curtis. She was the loving mother of six children, fourteen grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was a life-long equestrian who loved and cared for horses since her childhood. She had a never-ending appreciation of their grace and beauty long after she was able to ride. She would sit on the porch and just watch them playing in the pastures for hours. Shirley really enjoyed bowling and golf and was an avid sports fan. She loved watching hockey, baseball, and NASCAR racing with her sons and son in-laws. She also was a very creative and artistic soul. She truly enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and a variety of other arts and crafts which she often shared with her family.

Shirley’s family was the most precious thing in her life, and she will be forever loved and missed by all of them.

Shirley is survived by her daughters; Jessica McCool, Julie Villarose-Biache (Jay Biache), Leisa (Larry) Lier, Lynne (Randy) Dunnington; sons D. Michael Putnam and Paul Putnam. Grandchildren; Steffanie (Aaron) Portenga, Kyle (Sarah) McCool, Kurt (Jaime) McCool, James Putnam, Andria (Kyle) Garner, Amanda (Zach Adkison) Villarose, Brandon Putnam, Tyler Putnam, Larry (Nicole) Lier, Lee (Lisa) Lier, Nicholas (Sheri) Hoeldtke, Lauren (Cody) Goodman, Taylor (Seth) Amick, her beloved great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Bernice Curtis. She is preceded by her parents and her brother, son-in-law Edwin McCool, and grandson Justin McCool.

There will be a private Memorial Service for family at Shirley’s home on December 26th, 2017.
