Sharon Lee Staggs

December 22, 1943 — March 1, 2017

Sharon Lee Jackson Staggs, 73, a former resident of Nashville, Tennessee, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation.

She was the daughter of Walter M. and Bessie V. Whitwell Jackson and was married to the late Charles E. Staggs for 43 years until his death in 2013. Sharon was born in San Diego, California on December 22, 1943. She was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High school and San Diego City College.

After moving to Tennessee from California, she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Haylong Elementary in Mt. Pleasant and as a library assistant at Columbia State Community College in Columbia. She left Columbia State to take a job at Vanderbilt University where she then worked for almost 20 years in personnel and at Vanderbilt Temporary Services.

Sharon was always a hard-worker in life but also a loving wife, mother, proud grandmother, and a good friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her only child, Renae (Mark) Coleman, 2 grandsons, Riley and Cayson Coleman, all of Franklin, a sister Margaret Stevenson of Spring Valley, California and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
