Sharon Bennett

April 23, 1948 — April 8, 2025

Sharon Lee Lewellyn Bennett, a devoted servant of Christ and beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. She was 76 years old.

Born on April 23, 1948, in Florence, Alabama, Sharon was the cherished daughter of the late William Lewellyn Sr. and Dorothy Lee Miles Lewellyn. A Christian through and through, Sharon lived a life rooted in faith, love, and compassion. She found great joy in studying the Bible, teaching Sunday school, and sharing her love for Jesus with others. She was a longtime member of both Jackson Heights Church of Christ and Collegevue Church of Christ.

Sharon was a woman of many gifts and passions. She was the owner and broker of Progressive Realty and also ran a daycare out of her home, offering care and kindness to countless families over the years. She was known for doing the right thing, for her deep sense of integrity, and for the warmth she extended to everyone around her.

Sharon loved singing, playing card games, and spending quality time with her family, whom she adored above all else. Some of her favorite memories were made cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers at UT football games, visiting theme parks, and taking vacations with her loved ones. For 48 wonderful years, she was married to the love of her life, Jerry Bennett, who preceded her in death in 2016. Their marriage was a shining example of love and partnership.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry, her parents, and her brother Ricky Lewellyn.

Sharon leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her children: Jimmy Bennett (Suzanne) of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, and LeAnn Shelton (Wade) of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tristan Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Kimberly McCord (Jake), Timothy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Katie Beth Shelton, Kathryn Shelton, and Tyler Shelton; and great grandmother to Nora and Charlie McCord. She is also survived by her brother William Eugene Lewellyn Jr. (Vina), along with several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory always.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Benjamin Bennett, Jake McCord, Charles Smith and Frank Jones.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee.
