Shannon Douglas Sparkman, age 48, passed away on March 1, 2019 at Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer, Alaska.
Shannon was born on January 11, 1971 in Columbia, Tennessee to Gracie and Arnold Sparkman. Shannon graduated in 1990 from Wahkiakum High School in Cathlamet, Washington where he participated in track and field. He was a bartender and a very skilled machinist for over 20 years. He was a great cook and loved to listen to music and make people laugh. Shannon moved to Wasilla, Alaska on January 2019 to be with his fiancé Cora Dobbins.
Shannon is survived by his daughter: Carleena Sparkman; Carleena’s mother: Kim Sparkman; mother: Gracie Sparkman; siblings: Gary (Robin) Sparkman, Jody (Steve) Claiborne, Felicia (Chandler) Beard, Diana (Phil) Bittle, Arnold Sparkman, Jr., and David Moss (Mary Jane) Sparkman. Shannon was preceded in death by his father Arnold Fraser Sparkman, who passed away in 2013.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in The Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens, 6465 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, Tennessee. Scott Tilghman will officiate.
