Sgt. William C. ?Bill? Mercer US Army Ret., age 86, a resident of Rosewood Drive in Columbia passed away Wednesday, October 24, at Rosewood Manor.

Funeral services for Mr. Mercer will be conducted Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackalekel officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Army.

There will be a prayer service Sunday, October 28 at 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Deacon Keller officiating.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 3:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Lacorda, IL native was the son of Louis Solomon and Ethel May Sutton Mercer and the husband of Alice C. Krysiak Mercer for sixty five years. He served in the United States Army for twenty years in the 1st Division and also retired from the United States Post Office in Syracuse, New York. He was a member of the St. Catherine Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived two sons: Kenneth Sarah Mercer of Foley, AL and William Bill Sue Mercer of Lawrenceburg, TN; grandchildren, Tonya Mercer of Foley, AL, John Mercer of Foley, AL, Carrie Woloven of Oswego, NY, and Shawn William Mercer of Lawrenceburg, TN; great-grandchildren: Erin Woloven and Brin Woloven both Oswego, NY, Hannah Mercer of Foley, Ashley and Lacey Hie both of Foley, AL. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be members of United States Military Service. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Banks, Jaime Maurice, children and grandchildren.
