World War II vet looses the love of his life, Selma June Wood Polston, 84, a resident of Spring Hill, passed away October 23, 2011.
Mrs. Polston was born September 6, 1927 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of the late John and Carrie Wood. On April 3, 1946 she married her husband of 65 years, France M.C. Polston. Before she was married, she worked for a phone company as a switchboard operator before settling into the job she performed so well and loved, a homemaker. Prior to living in Spring Hill, the two settled into Homosassa Springs, Florida as retirees. She loved to teach her children and grandchildren painting, crocheting, or making jewelry. The family expressed her love for pink rose buds and how she would have them embroidered on all of her belongings.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5-8:30 P.M. and Wednesday 11-12:00 Noon with services to be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran s Cemetery in Pegram, TN.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: two daughters, Mrs. PatriciaRoger Carr of Charlotte, MI, Mrs. KathyLewis Decker of Columbia; three grandsons: Troy Carr, Chris Carr, and Wade Crandall; three granddaughters: Shantel Scott, Persephone Clover, Danielle Carr, and Amberly Kaylor; eleven great grandchildren, and two sisters. Mrs. Polston was preceded in death by one daughter: Rebecca Merhoff; and her parents: Carrie Wood Delk and John Wood, one brother: Buddy Wood; one sister: Neva Guy.
