Mrs. Sara Thomas?Tom? ?Zip? AKA Granny Tom ? G.T.? Brooks McKennon, 68, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at her residence on South Main Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services for Mrs. McKennon will be conducted Friday, October 17, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Vernon Brooks officiating. Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Paul Moody and Mary Josephine Higgins Brooks. She was the wife of 44 years to Jimmy English McKennon of Mt. Pleasant. She was a retired nurse from Hidden Acres Nursing Home and member of the Catholic Faith. She was avid genealogist in which she was a correspondent with people all over the world. She was an American Civil War enthusiast, having published three books, John Hunter Cemetery, 1870 Maury County Census, and John F. Kennedy Ancestors. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, crocheting, arrowhead hunting, and cemetery restoration. She was an owner of the Corner Store in Mt. Pleasant for 14 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Crystal Jo ?Jodi? Ron Keiser of Columbia, TN; a son, Gary Boyd Crumley of Columbia, TN; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Kate ?Katie? Whitwell Kevin Boshers of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Joshua Daniel ?Josh Dan? Haywood of San Diego, CA, and Charity Hall of Columbia, TN; two great grandsons, Kristopher ?Boo? Kyle Whitwell Boshers of Mt. Pleasant, TN and Aiden James Haywood of San Diego, CA; a sister, Peggy Brooks Darnell of Lewisburg, TN; an uncle, Glen Stevenson of Columbia, TN; an aunt, Winifred Bill Hardison of Columbia, TN. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Howell and a brother, Paul Moody Brooks, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Robbie McKennon, Mike Cothran, Paul Cothran, Todd Cothran, Robert Cothran, Morris Wayne Green, and Carl Lovett.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant- Phosphate Museum, 108 Public Square, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee 38474.
