Mrs. Sarah Dodson Parker, age 84, a long time resident of Hampshire Pike in Mt. Pleasant and most recently of Woodmont Drive in Columbia, passed away on Sunday morning surrounded by her loving family at Life Care Center.
Born August 5, 1926 in Maury County, daughter of the late Albert Leroy and Maude Agnes Kindel Thompson. She was preceded in death by her first husband James Harry "Buddy" Dodson and later by the Rev. Harl Parker. Mrs. Parker was a well-known, talented seamstress. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved working in her flower garden and cooking for her family. She was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the Young at Heart.
Survivors include her six children: J.H. Myrtle Dodson, Jr. of Thompson Station, Mary Louise Neeley David Martin, Debbie Dodson, Danny "Bill" Stacy Dodson, Sara Hubbard and fianc e: Donnie Underwood, and Darlene Malott, all of Columbia; sister: Helen Kincaid of Hampshire; grandchildren: Rebecca Dodson, Tammi McCall, Benson Patterson, Buddy Dodson, Carrie Ford, Destin Dodson, Chelsea Roberts, Derek Pugh, Levi Pugh, Kevin Hubbard, Jill Hickman Zimmer and Jacob Alan Malott; 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Clyde K. Thompson, William Thompson and Allison Thompson; 1 sister: Mary Curry; 2 grandchildren: Jamie Neeley and Todd Neeley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jacky Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Wayne Thompson, David Kincaid, Dwight Dodson, Ed Brooks, Albert Rich, Chad Rich and Billy Roy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
