Samuel Charles “Chuck” Ray, Jr.
Chuck Ray is fondly remembered for his jokes, pranks and eternal joyous spirit.
Chuck was always looking forward to spending time with his grandson Joey, and was never short on mischief or trivia. Growing up around dirt tracks in SC he had a passion for Nascar, playing golf until dark, and fast motorcycles.
Chuck, who lived in Columbia, TN, was born in Charleston, SC, graduated from Mount Pleasant High and resided many years in Lawrenceville, GA. He worked at Stauffer Globe, Astrazeneca and later owned Atlanta Custom Candles of Duluth & Gainesville, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Home Columbia at Noon on Sunday March 2nd with a 1 hour visitation prior to service.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Charles Ray and Belma Kay McKissick both of Charleston, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Amy Vandiver Ray; son Charles Cory Ray; daughter Samantha Ray (Paul) Ables of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren Samuel Joseph Ray, Paul Ables, Jr and Mika Ables all of Murfreesboro, TN; step-father Howard McKissick of Moncks Corner, SC; sister Tamara Ray (Tommy) Prox of Moncks Corner, SC; mother-in-law Peggy Vandiver; sister-in-law Judy Vandiver (Cary Stephenson); nieces,nephews, step brother and sisters.
