Samuel R. Irwin, Jr., age 74, passes away Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee.
Samuel was born on May 20, 1948, to the late Samuel R. Irwin, Sr., and Eula Allen Irwin in Giles County, Tennessee.
He was a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville, Tennessee. From the young age of 18, Samuel knew what hard work was and found interest in butchering. He developed such knowledge of fine-cut meats, that he made it a lifelong career until he finally decided to hang up his sharp knives and apron a few years ago. Apart from his fine butchering skills, he was a delicious cook. His family always savored his prized meatloaf which was cooked to perfection. When he was enjoying his downtime, you could find him with a deck of cards in his hands always up for another game or two. Those memories will be cherished by his loved ones and will be deeply missed by all.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Joyce Irwin; daughter: Mary Elizabeth Irwin; and brother: James (Clara) Irwin.
In addition to his parents, Samuel is preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Irwin; sister: Dorothy Johnson; and brother-in-law: Milton Johnson.
The family will receive friends and visitors at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a memorial service commencing at 3:00 PM.
