Mr. Sammy Lee Bradford, age 88, resident of Santa Fe Pike, passed away on Thursday at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Bradford will be conducted 2:00 P.M.Saturday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Tommy Culberson officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Born January 9, 1923 in Maury Co., son of the late Ellis Bradford and Martha Ragsdale Bradford and the husband of the late Lena Brooks Bradford. During WW II, Sammy was a member of the U.S. Army Rangers and was featured in one The Daily Herald's July 4th edition. Sammy was a life long farmer and construction worker. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing music for local square dances. Sammy was a member of the Mooresville Pike Church of Christ.
Survivors include his children: Sammy Lee Bradford, Jr., of Minor Hill, Danny Bradford of Santa Fe and Pam Bradford Billy Hargroveof Columbia; two step-daughters: Cathy Travis Alexander of Lewisburg and Peggy Wendell Woodard of Santa Fe; step-son: Eddie Kay Sharp of Columbia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Felix Bradford of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Ruby Thomas of Greenville, KY. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
