Sam Culotta passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee August 28, 2013, at the age of 104 with his family by his side.
Sam was born December 1, 1908. Sam lived all of his life in New Orleans and had a unique career history of picking cotton, bootlegging, and owner of Culotta’s Grocery in 9th Ward. Sam is preceded in death by his wife Darleen Culotta and daughter Raylene Mills.
A double graveside inurnment for Mr. Culotta and his daughter Raylene Mills will be conducted Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Sam is survived by his grandsons: Rickie (Ginger) Salvador Luke and Randy (Elizabeth) Landry; Granddaughters: Lorilyn (Leron) Simolke, Kellie (Hyongil) Moon; as well as 8 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
