Mrs. Ruth was born on October 2, 1934, in Lawrence County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Alvin James and Clara Mae Prince Butler. She was the wife of the late Claude L. Ervin. Ruth was a retired Certified Nursing Tech with Hillview Nursing Home. She had worked with nearly all the nursing homes in Maury County. Before becoming a CNT, she had worked in the Housekeeping department at Maury Regional Hospital. Her family said she loved crocheting and sewing. Ruth loved cooking for her family. She had been attending the Cross Bridges Baptist Church. Ruth loved old fashion gospel music.

Ruth is survived by her two sons, Randy Lee Christy Ervin and Terry G. Lisa Ervin both of Columbia; two daughters, Patricia M. Kenny Jones of Columbia and Melody M. Gary Hahn of Williamsport; five sisters, Ruby Bobo of Columbia, Razzie Lee "Roxie" Charlie Oxsher, Eva Jack Kubalac and Mary William Smotherman all of Murfreesboro and Carolyn Lee Hill of Williamsport; her grandchildren, Yolanda Jim Gray, Ashley Jesse Yates, Holly Moore, Stacy Rick Williams, Kenny Lee Debbie Jones, Greg Anna Jones, Terry Lee Ashley Ervin, Jacob Moore, Allen Britney Hogue, Hunter Ervin, Gary Hahn, Jr., Brock Hahn and Clint Hahn; great-grandchildren, Haley Jones, Kristen Williams, Heather Steve Warda, Jenny Keven Wright, Aimie Keven Holt, Whitney Wright, Aaliyah Hogue, Addy Grace Hogue, Daniel Gray, Nicholas Anderson, Gabe Yates, Landon Holt, Roman Warda, Evan Wright, Gregory Jones, Eric Williams and Mason Ervin. She was preceded in death a brother, Charles Butler, a sister-in-law, Ramona Butler and a brother-in-law, Sherman Bobo.

Mrs. Ruthie Mae Butler Ervin was 76 years old and a resident of Billy Lee Street in Columbia. She passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ervin will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Kevin Ervin officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The Ervin Family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Jones, Jim Gray, Daniel Gray, Kenny Lee Jones, Jacob Moore and Jesse Yates. Honorary pallbearers will be Doctors and staff at Maury Regional Medical Center and Staff of Life Care Center of Columbia.
