Ruth Potts Wood

Mrs. Margaret Ruth Potts Wood, 82, of 209 Hay Long Avenue, Mt. Pleasant, passed from this life at her residence on Wednesday, February 18, 2004.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Raymond Harville, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, officiating.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens.

She was the daughter of the late Tommie Leslie ?Tickle? Potts and Gertie Robinson Potts of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Columbia.

She was the loving wife of 64 years to Raymond Wood of Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Mt. Zion church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant.

She graduated from Hay Long High School on May 19, 1939 and attended Columbia Business College. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing LPN diploma on December 16, 1957 from Maury County Hospital, now known as Maury Regional Hospital. She was employed by Dr. G. C. English and Dr. C. D. Walton of Mt. Pleasant for a number of years before retiring.

Survivors other than her husband are two daughters; Ann Dalton Cole and Linda Ray Wood of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Tammy Scharrer, Tony Cole and Terry Cole; six great-grandchildren, Allison Cole, Andrew Scharrer, Whitney Scharrer, Trevor Cole, Taylor Cole and Tyler Cole, all of Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death on June 6, 2003 by a brother, Frank Potts of Gulf Breeze, Florida, formerly of Columbia.

Pallbearers are Tony Cole, Terry Cole, Andrew Scharrer, Robert Wood, Gaylon Wood, and Mark Hayes.

Honorary pallbearers are Claude Brawner, Charles "Spud" Crotzer, Wayne Craig, Tillman Knox, Dr. James B. Kelley, Reba Pierce, Cindi Hickman, Franklin Williams, and the men of Mt. Zion Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant.
