Ruth Lucas

January 22, 1927 — August 4, 2018

Mrs. Ruth Lucas, a 91-year-old resident of McIntire Drive, in Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born in Woodland Mills, Morgan County Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Susan Cryer and wife of the late Elton D. Lucas. Ruth was a retired real estate agent. Prior to moving to Tennessee, she resided in Las Vegas, NV where she spent 30 years working for Bell South.

Ruth was an avid bowler, enjoyed line dancing, and playing Rummikub with long-time friends Juanita Blevins, Louise Long, and Pauline Ebling. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking, watching political TV shows, and working jigsaw puzzles.

Ruth was an active and longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church where she taught in a small group as well as evangelism classes. She was dedicated to her church and helping anyone who needed a smile, or a ride to the service on Sunday morning. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Cathy Lucas (Randy Jiles) of Acworth, GA; a stepson, John Ed (Penny) Lucas of Carlsbad, CA; three grandchildren, Lucas Bigham of Brookhaven, GA, Heather (Jeff) Sevely and Megan (Gary) Lewis, both of Carlsbad, CA; four great grandchildren and two nieces. She was preceded in death by husband, Elton D. Lucas and three Sisters, Blanche Grady, Beatrice Turney, and Verdie Garrison.

The Family will visit with friends Tuesday, August 7th 2018 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 8th also at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Rick Blevins officiating. Interment will following at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tennessee.

Pallbearers: Leon Dixon, Gary Beaty, Tommy Carroll, Randy Jiles, Lucas Bigham, and David Forrester.

Honorary Pallbearers: “Classy Ladies” Bowling team, “Senioritis” Line dance performers, The Kimbrough Small Group at First Baptist Church, and Mr. and Ms. Tommy Bone, Bryan Bone.
