Ruth Kelley, 91, formally of Rockdale Hill went to be with her beloved JC on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Indiana. Ruth was a longtime resident and business owner on Rockdale Hill.
She is preceded in death by her husband JC Kelley, her parents, Frank and Bessie McDonald, siblings, Sonny McDonald, Bubba McDonald, Bea Pesnell, Lavon Richardson, Peggy McGee, and Doris Hawkins.
Ruth is survived by her son, Alton (Skippy) Godwin of Rockport, IN; Grandchildren, Guy Godwin and Wendy Shepherd of Northern KY; Great Grandchildren, Lindsey, Jacob, Nicholas, Macie and Brady all of Northern KY; Great Great Grandchild, Lillie of Northern KY; Sisters, Dean Allen and Linda Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
She took a lot of pride in her cooking and made sure no one left hungry. All of her friends and family can attest to that. She lived by the saying, “Throw the science books away, lard and sugar is the way to cook.” Incidentally, she lived to be 91.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday September 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor William Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
