Mrs. Ruth Finney Nicholson, age 88, resident of Highway 166 N in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 at NHC Health Care of Columbia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nicholson will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 20, 2010, in the chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
The Maury Co. native, she was the daughter of the late Edward and James Melissa Hodge Finney. She was the wife of Eddie Thomas ?E.T.? Nicholson, to whom she was married for 63 years until his death, on September 8, 2002. She worked some times for Quik Sak of Columbia. Most of her life she was a housewife. She enjoyed going to Tunica and she enjoyed going to yard sales. In her early years, she loved going with her husband to Alabama car auctions. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Faye Larry Ballard and one son, Tommy Nicholson both of Mt. Pleasant; three granddaughters, Tammy Randy Eastep of Mt. Pleasant, Pam Terry Parham of Culleoka and Valerie Barry McDaniel of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, Stacey Sue Roberts and Rodney Nicholson both of Mt. Pleasant; eleven great-grandchildren, Aaron Julie Eastep of Summertown, Jessica Parham and Kayla Parham both of Culleoka, Brandon Roberts, Amber Roberts, Blake McDaniel and Megan McDaniel , Dylan Nicholson, Kayle Nicholson, Melissa Myers and Joseph Brown all of Mt. Pleasant; three great-great-grandchildren, JJ and Gavin Myers and Jaelynn Gill all of Mt. Pleasant; and a special niece, Ellen Bill Dial. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Vicky Nicholson, a beloved son-in-law, Curtis Roberts, daughter-in-law, Phyllis Nicholson, a sister Ann King and special friend Gail Hughes.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Stacey Roberts and Rodney Nicholson, great-grandsons, Aaron Eastep and Brandon Roberts; Randy Eastep, Terry Parham, Barry McDaniel and Terry Dial.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat McCarthy, Melanie, Billy Hollis, George Gilliam, Pat Hickman, Everett Arnold, members of Allensville Baptist Church, Dr. Kelly Snider, Dr. Thomas Dake, the nurses and staff of the Mt. Pleasant Family Medical Group and very special friend, Butch Hughes.
