Mrs. Ruth I. Eichelberger Cox, age 70, a resident of Bobwhite Drive in Lyles, passed away Thursday at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services for Mrs. Cox will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday in Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating.
Born May 11, 1939 in Carlisle. PA, Ruth was the daughter of the late Fred Rouch and Velma Eichelberger Derr and the wife of the late David Martin Cox. She was a case worker for Human Services in Columbia. She enjoyed going to the Great Smokey Mountains and loved cooking, especially sweets for her family. Ruth was baptized into the Brethren in Christ Church in Carlisle, PA.
Survivors include her children: Lori Goatz of Columbia, Randy Janey Cox of Eagleville and Mindy Steve Thomas of Lyles; grandchildren: Zac Thomas, David Crownover, Wesley Crownover, Brandi Chapman, Ryan Goatz, Andrea Cox, Cassidy Crawford and Cody Crawford; great-grandchildren: Ashley Boyd and Maddy Chapman; brothers and sisters: Sandi Lehman of PA, Linda Billig of FL, Bonnie Logan of PA and Walter Derr, Jr., of PA. She was preceded in death by the grandmother that raised her: Clara Jane Eichelberger.
Pallbearers will be Cody Crawford, David Crownover, Wesley Crownover, Steve Thomas, Frank Thomas and Josh Balcewicz. Honorary pallbearers will be the nursing staff of Maury Regional Medical Center oncology and radiation departments, Dr. John Simmons and Dr. Moataz Toban.
