Mr. Russell Lee ?Russ? Williamson, 81 , a resident of Carrington Lane in Columbia, died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Williamson will be conducted Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with masonic rites at 6:00 p.m.
The Cleves, Ohio native was the son of the late Joseph Lee and Anna Snow Johnston Williamson. He was the husband of Sue Basdon Williamson of Columbia. Mr. Williamson was a retired conductor for Conrail Railroad. He was a farmer and a long time resident of Cleves, Ohio. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19, Lodge #44 of F& A.M. in Miamitown, Ohi, o and Appalachian Area Chapter of Blacksmiths. He enjoyed building a blacksmith shop with his son recently and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He attended the McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Stephen Lee Vicky Williamson of Columbia, TN; a sister, Ruth Menkhaus of Independence, KY; a sister-in-law, Alma Williamson of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Michelle Dr. Bryan Kurtz of Columbia, TN, Scott Williamson and Jennifer of Lynnville, TN, Shane Williamson of Columbia, TN; great-grandchildren, Zachary Kurtz and Landon Kurtz both of Columbia, TN, Shawn Williamson of Lynnville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Metzger and a brother, Paul Williamson.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Williamson, Scott Williamson, Shane Williamson, Dr. Bryan Kurtz, Lester Beckman, and Barry Blackburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Eric Iverson and Dr. Jon Freels.
Memorials may be made to the McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 29 Columbia, TN 38402.
