Russell A. “Booter” Thomason, age 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2017, after a long fight with illness.
Booter was born on March 7, 1943, to Charlie and Willadean Marshall Thomason in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. On May 1, 1965, he married Patricia Pike and they were married for fifty-one years, raising and loving a family together through good times and bad. He worked hard to provide for his family, retiring after many years as a skilled carpenter. He loved to fish, hunt and really enjoyed throwing horseshoes.
Booter is survived by his wife: Patricia Pike Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; children: Tammy (Rodney) Ballinger of Hampshire, Crystal Renee Wiley of Mt. Pleasant and Russell Thomason, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Wayne (Marilyn) Thomason of Mt. Pleasant and Carole (Larry) Hicks of Mt. Pleasant; and dear friend: Debra Nance. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Willadean Thomason; step-son: Jerry Pike; and brothers: Ray, Arnold and Bobby Thomason.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomason will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Johnnie Higginson officiating. Burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 12 Noon until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Rodney Ballinger, Dude Ballinger, Bobby Ballinger, Jason Nance, Stephanie Barnes and Chris Hodge will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Gary King, Dr. Bain and Larry Kelter. The family would like to give a special thank you to Tammy Shultz for the dedicated loving care that she gave to Booter during his final illness.
