Ruby Roberts Cothran
January 9, 1921 — October 29, 2005
Mrs. Ruby Virginia Roberts Cothran, 84 , widow of James Cothran and a resident of Old State Road in Hampshire and former long-time resident of Garden City Michigan, died Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cothran will be conducted Monday, October 31, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend William Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Walter and Mamie Bell Workman Roberts. Mrs. Cothran was a retired manager of Daly?s Drive in Plymouth, Michigan and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed cooking, and working with flowers.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia the late Arthur McKennon and Jimmie George Chapman both of Hampshire, TN, Dorothy Leon Longsdorf of Inkster, MI; two sisters, Elaine Huffmaster of Tecumseh, MI, Ellen Rankin of Columbia, TN; a brother, Gene Ray Jean Roberts of Hampshire, TN; 12 grandchildren, Jackie Sharon McKennon of Summertown, TN, Buddy Sandra McKennon, Eddie Ruby McKennon, Cathy Carl Lovett, David Jannette McKennon all of Mt. Pleasant, TN, James Debbie Chapman, Mike Rose Chapman both of Hampshire, TN, Thomas Terri Chapman of Texas, Danny Chapman of Hampshire, TN, Kenneth Theresa Chapman, Ron Sandy Longsdorf, and Cindy Longsdorf all of Michigan; 33 great grandchildren, Holly Phillips, Christie Goats, Buddy McKennon, Jr., Wendy Hicks, Patty King, Kevin McKennon, Angel McKennon, Eddie McKennon, Jr., Chad Pugh, Alan Lovett, Blake Lovett, D.J. McKennon, Cody McKennon, Lauren McKennon, Lucy McKennon, Randy Chapman, Eric Chapman, Brian Chapman, Rebecca Smith, Jim Chapman, Steven Chapman, Adam Chapman, Brandon Sladchik, Gary Chapman, T.J. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Howard Roberts, Harry Roberts, Edward Earl Roberts, Buddy Roberts, and Douglas Roberts; 2 sisters, Pearl Cothran and Everdean Knowles; a granddaughter, Theresa Smith; a great grandson, J.J. McKennon; a great granddaughter, Meagan McKennon.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.
