Ruby Leona Norton

March 8, 1933 — January 5, 2011

Ruby was born on March 8, 1933 in Davidson County. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Rena Russell Sims. She was the wife of the late Virgil W. Norton. Ruby was a wonderful cook. She had worked for the Southern Drive-In, Margaret's Restaurant, Stan's Restaurant and the Rebel Grill. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her dog, "Toby".

She is survived by her son, Pete Ginnings of Nashville; two daughters, Brenda Walter Dugger of Columbia and Sara Troy Holcomb of Ethridge; her grandchildren, Michael Ginnings, and Gary Ginnings both of Nashville, Gail Manning, Amanda White and Teresa Ragsdale all of Columbia, Lindsay Holcomb and Daniel Holcomb both of Ethridge and Michelle Kilpatrick of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Caleb Manning and Stephen Stanfill both of Columbia and several more great-grandchildren; and a sister, Babe Ruth Sartain. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Pierce, her husband Virgil Norton and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Norton was 77 years old and a resident of Old Highway 43 in Mt. Pleasant. Ruby passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at her residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norton will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rick Points officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.

The Norton Family will receive friends from on Friday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Seth Coble, Joey Lewis, Roger Pierce, Norman Dugger, Lloyd Dugger and Richard Cothran.
