Mr. Roy Pruitt, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Healthcare and Rehab.
Roy was born on June 25, 1931 in Sandy Hook, Tennessee to the late Arch Milton Pruitt and the late Minnie Pearl Griggs Pruitt. He was a heavy equipment operator retired from Farmers Construction in Franklin. After retirement he worked for the Maury County Waste Management in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
His family remembers him as a loving and hard working man. He loved traveling, singing and dancing. He really enjoyed entertaining his peers at the nursing home with his singing and dancing, especially the ladies. He always called out, “Hey Baby” to them. His daughter, Terry, has fond memories of him singing “You are my Sunshine” to her.
Mr. Pruitt is survived by his children: Wesley “Roy” Pruitt of Mt. Pleasant, William Edward (Teresa) Pruitt of Collinwood and Terry Lynn (Donnie Long) Pruitt of Ethridge; his former wife: Edna Church of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Brenda Kaye Pruitt; and great-grandson: Cameron Green.
Funeral services for Roy will be on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will also visit with friends on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. until time for the service to start at 3:00 p.m.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terri Lemay and the staff of Mt. Pleasant Healthcare and Rehab, Alan Arnold and Bill Cothran.
