Roy Edward Payne

Roy E. Payne, age 76 a resident of Columbia, TN passed away Thursday April 4th at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Roy was born in Franklin, TN to the late Ewell Hogan and William M. Payne. Roy was a talented carpenter, building beautiful courtyards and furniture. He spent a great deal of time caretaking his own courtyard and garden. Roy was an avid collector; he collected arrowheads, stamps, and nutcrackers among many other things. One of Roy’s many talents was that he was an award-winning archer.

Roy is survived by his wife Martha L. Lovett: Four sons: Monte E. Payne, Lonnie D. Payne, John Loren Payne and William E. (Cheryl) Lovett; Four daughters: Geanie Payne Odell, Edwina R. Goatz, Wanda G. Pope and Carrie Lovett; Two grandsons: Michael D. (Annette) Sullivan and Anthony L. Pope Jr.; Five granddaughters: Lori M. (Ray) Evans, Tammy D. (Russ) Richardson, Caitlinn B. Lovett, Celseay B. Lovett and Carley B. Lovett. He is also survived by a special caregiver Marquetta Goatz.

Pallbearers will be: William Lovett, Russ Richardson, Anthony Pope Jr., Michael Sullivan, Ray Evans, and Dennis Scroggins

Services will be held Sunday April 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, from 4-8 at Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Tim Paul will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
