Mr. Roy C. Brown, age 91, resident of N. Main Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Columbia following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Frank Webb, Rev. Jack Taylor and Rev. J.C. Christian officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors being provided by the United States Navy.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church.

Born November 1, 1918 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Seth R. and Annie Pollock Brown. He was a 1936 graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. He was a World War II veterean having served in the Navy. He was a retired clerk carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club. When he was 83 years old, he made a hole in one. When it was to cold to play golf, he and his golfing buddies would play cards, also spent much of his time building windmills. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant where for many years and presently was a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by two brothers, James Alvin Brown of Lawrenceburg and Seth Gertrude Brown of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Kathryn B. Baker of Columbia; three nieces, Kristen Chesnut of Napa, California, Sara J. Daunhauer of Shreveport, Louisana and Margie Mann of Lawrenceburg; four nephews, Rock A. Arkie of Mars, Pennsylvania, Seth Brown, Jr. of Nashville, Michael Roy Brown of Jacksonville, Florida and Charles K. Brown of Collins, Georgia; two grand-nieces, Jennifer Lind-Westbrook of Savannah, Georgia and Laura Beth Brown of Lewisburg; and three grand-nephews, Seth Marshall Brown and Christopher L. Brown both of Mt. Pleasant and Stephen M. Brown of Franklin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel V. Brown and Ann Arkie.
Nephews and grand nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant and all members of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club.
