Ronald D. Curtis Ronnie, 59, a native of Columbia, died Sunday, November 23, at his home on Antrim Circle following a 17 month diagnosis of brain cancer.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 25, at 11:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Bill Williamson and Maggie Beamguard will officiate. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Monday night at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Friends can also visit prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:30 at the church.

The Maury County native was a 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned an accounting degree from the University of Tennessee in 1971. He married Kay Shapard in 1973. He owned and operated his own CPA firm in Columbia since 1980. He was a member of various professional organizations, the Columbia Kiwanis Club, and First Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his mother, Geneva Capps and step-father, Bill Capps, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kay; daughter, Kate Sam Gassaway III of Memphis; son, Sam Curtis who is a Junior at Auburn University and his grandchildren Sam and Meg Gassaway, both of Memphis, TN.

He was preceded in death by his sister Linda Dooley in 2007.

Pallbearers are Keith Baker, Don Crichton, Sam Gassaway, Burt Hewgley, Pitts Hinson, Tom Patton, Tony Pogue, Campbell Sowell, Bob Thompson, Fred White and Roger Witherow.

Honorary pallbearers are Kiwanis table friends, Gene Dye, Irving Fentress, Wendell Hartman, Charles Hudson, George Buzz and Liz Lovell, Robert McKay, Joanne Pogue, John Sweeney, Nadeen Tatum, David and Nanette Williams and Butch West.
