Mr. Ronald Murphy "Pop" Beard, 69, a resident of Baptist Church Road in Culleoka, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Beard will be conducted Sunday, June 1, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene, with Reverend Steve Robertson and Reverend Eugene Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Barney and Adell Brady Beard and the husband of Lona Rochester Beard of Culleoka. Mr. Beard was the owner and operator of R&L Sales in Columbia and was formerly with Columbia Wholesale Foods. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, a long-time coach for girls slow-pitch softball, and a professional Grandfather. In addition to these, he was an avid lover of gospel music and all sports.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Beard is survived by a daughter, Karen Wayne Haynes of Culleoka; a granddaughter, Chasity Haynes and a grandson, Caleb Haynes, both of Culleoka; a brother, John W. Beard of Columbia and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Beard is preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and James Beard.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Gardner, Mike Rochester, Randy Rochester, Paul Blalaock, Adam Robertson, Charles Thorton, Jim Bolton, and Bill Gunnell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Rochester, Kevin Rochester, Doyle Rochester, Ernest Snell, Dr. Robert Bain, Jack Cecil and the members of the First Church of the Nazarene.
