Roger David Hutchinson, Sr., of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Roger was born on July 24, 1954, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Robert L. Hutchinson, Sr. and Myrtle (Sis) King Hutchinson. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, and a strong US patriot. He loved the United States of American and her flag was held in great esteem by him. He believed, without a doubt, that USA was the greatest place on earth. After his honorable service in the Marine Corp, Roger was a hard-working man, having worked as a truck driver for Aspen Tree Company, Georgia-Florida Power and Purty Brothers Trucking. He was very playful and fun-loving and made friends everywhere he went. He especially had many lady friends and was quite the charmer. He had no enemies in this world. Fishing and hunting and playing guitar were some of his favorite hobbies. He was always generous to those in need. He kept up with his family and friends through Facebook. He was a loving father.
Roger is survived by his children: Renee (Juan) Ocampo, Kristen Peterson, and Roger Hutchinson, Jr.; grandchildren: Michael Ocampo, Michael Peterson, Lili Guerrero, Robbi Hutchinson, Anthony Hutchinson, and Isaiah Hutchinson; great-grandchildren: Lucy and Taylor Hutchinson; siblings: Roberta (Paul) Capistrant, Betty Tingley, Carol Ann (James) Reed, Robert L. Hutchinson, Jr., Carl D. (Sandy) Hutchinson, and Donna (Robert) Knight; and sister-in-law: Barbara Cosner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Earl L. Hutchinson and Glenn A. Hutchinson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, at the VFW Post 4969, 2021 Williamsport Pike, Columbia, TN 38401.
