Roger Earl Hay

June 23, 1931 — April 10, 2004

Roger Earl Hay, 72, known as the ?Muffin Man? and a resident of Dimple Court in Columbia, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Hay will be conducted Monday, April 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Howard Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Eugene and Eva Brady Hay and husband of Evalena McCrary Hay. He started his career in the bakery industry back in 1949 and retired as owner of the Sweet Shop after 34 years as a baker.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Mary Jane Hay of Mt. Pleasant; a stepson, Jimmie L. Virginia Harris of Hampshire; a sister, Mildred Hay Dale of Columbia; a brother, Howard Wesley Hay of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Hay of Mt. Pleasant, Roger Hay of Columbia, Ava Frost of Columbia and Sharon Denise Parmer of Hampshire; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Marie Coffee; three sisters, Lorene Hay Haskins, Dorothy Hay Ragsdale and Marie Hay Jett; one brother, Warren ?Sam? Leon Hay.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hay, Roger Hay, Pete Frost, Mark Markham, Calvin Atkins, Pete Frierson, Tony Simmons, Michael McCrary, Ray McCrary, Sammy Haskins and Larry Ketchum.
