Rodger Dale "R.D" Moyers

Rodger Dale “R.D.” Moyers, age 69, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Rodger was born December 24, 1951, in Middlesboro, KY to the late C.H. and Dicey Rogers Moyers.

In Rodger’s own words he was “an Old Hillbilly from the Mountains.” Rodger grew up in the hills of East Tennessee. He always carried a love for nature and the country life. Roger moved to Middle Tennessee where he helped to establish and manage the Insulating Services Middle Tennessee branch over several decades. He was an incredibly hard worker and grew up working tobacco fields and farming. When he wasn’t working, his idea of a good time was, honestly, just taking in mountain views while sipping a cup of coffee. However, Roger had another side and enjoyed piloting more than his rocking chair. He liked to take the view up a few thousand feet in his Cessna. Rodger had a real passion for flying. He felt a real sense of accomplishment and freedom when he was soaring above. Rodger also had a passion for people. He believed in being good to others and he lived by that. By all accounts, Rodger was a godly, humble, loving and a hospitable man. He valued those around him more than himself and put his faith into action. Rodger is a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son-in-law and friend. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Rodger is survived by his devoted wife: Karen Moyers; sons: David (Letitia) Moyers and Adam (Linda) Moyers; step-children: Joseph Quam, Sarah Quam, and Samantha (Lee) Palmer; grandchildren: Brittani, Ashley, Tiffany, Sadie, Mason, Meah, Joseph, Daniel, Jasmine, and Aliyah Karen; great-grandchildren: Maisie and Liam; mother in law: Karen Sokolnicki; brother in law: Kelly Sizemore; and sisters in law: Linda Alley and Tedi Clemmons; and his beloved K-9 companion: Cheeka. Rodger is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Judy Moyers.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 11, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN with Bro. Jason Caddy officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: David Moyers, Adam Moyers, Kelly Sizemore, Joe Quam, Mason Lomax, and Drew Clemmons.
