Robert C. Kennedy

Mr. Robert C. "Bob" Kennedy, 75, a resident of First Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, January 18, 2003 in Glennville, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mr. Kennedy will be conducted Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Reverend Dickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Glennville, Georgia native was the son of the late Robert Carl and Eula Mae Bell Kennedy. He was the husband of the late Peggy Ruth Ashworth Kennedy who died in 1996. He was retired owner and operator of Bob's Tire Shop in Mt. Pleasant and formerly managed Thoni's Service Station in Columbia. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Paula Michael Massie of Columbia; two sons, Johnny W. Christy Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant and Troy C. Teresa Kennedy of Dacula, GA; seven grandchildren, Michael Robert Kennedy, Matthew Ryan Kennedy, Heaven Leigh Massie, Heather Renee' Massie, and Jacob Blake Kennedy all of Columbia, Sara Brook Kennedy and Troy Andrew "Andy" Kennedy both of Dacula, GA; Brianna Nicole Yates and Justin Taylor Yates; three step grandchildren, Freddie Yates of Florida, Sammy Lee Yates and Savannah Diane Kennedy both of Columbia; two step great grandchildren, Brianna Nicole Yates and Justin Taylor Yates; seven sisters and seven brothers; a daughter-in-law, Gayle Kennedy of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Carl Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be Delbert Manley, Mike Ragsdale, John Tosh, Bobby Tosh, Douglas Woodard, Bobby Gene West, Joe West, Jackie Massey, and William Massie. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Tennessee Aluminum, Mt. Pleasant Transfer, Stauffer Chemical Company, Rhone-Poulenc, Industrial Products, Robinette Trucking, Brooks Dairy Farm, and Kevin Odom.
