The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Eugene and Effolee Hutcheson Brady and the wife of the late James Moss. She and her husband owned and operated Moss' Store for 17 years in the Water Valley Community. She was a member of the Fly Church of the Nazarene and also the president of the resident council of Hidden Acres Nursing Home. Affectionately known to many as Mama Bertie, she will be remembered for her zest for life and solid Christian faith. Whether you knew her as a friendly face welcoming you at the local store, a pillar at Fly church or someone to faithfully call you on the phone with news or an encouraging word, Bertie had a hand of influence in many lives. Never one to judge, she responded in compassion to all who crossed her path. Bertie believed in living life to the fullest, sharing often in laughter and conversation.
She is survived by her children: Salene Randy Walters, Neda Richard Brickner and Kathy Gene Woodard, all of Columbia, Jeffrey Moss and Mimi Mark Priest, both of Santa Fe and Odessa Will Smith of Mt. Pleasant; son-in-law: Dale Pigg, of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Miranda Jeff McCaleb of Lyles, Angie Johnny McClanahan of Santa Fe, Kevin Stephanie Huffman and Stephanie Darrin Totty, both of Columbia, Chad Ferguson of Williamsport, Danielle Mike Taylor of Murfreesboro, Gina Gabriel Martinez of Athens, AL, Emily Priest, Rachel Priest and Matt Priest, all of Santa Fe and Brady Daniels of Mt. Pleasant; 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Wanda Pigg and a brother: John Lewis Brady.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Huffman, Chad Ferguson, Matt Priest, Brady Daniels, Jeff McCaleb, Johnny McClanahan, Darrin Totty, Mike Taylor, Gabriel Martinez and Joseph Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Fly Church of the Nazarene, the staff and residents of Hidden Acres Nursing Home and the former customers of Moss' Store.
Special thanks to Dr. Kennedy, Karen Perry and all the staff at Hidden Acres Nursing Home, who have become a part of her extended family.
