Lt. Col (Ret.) Robert K. Wright, Sr., age 89, went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Wright, father, Robert Wright, and sisters: Dortha Crenshaw and Donna Dorenbruch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Joy Wright; son: Keith (Tammy) Wright; grandchildren: Robert Wright, Dean (Ashley) Wright, Paul and Leah Studaker; great-granddaughters: Lucy and Bella Wright; sister: Nancy (Phil) Stanley; and numerous other family members and friends.
Col. Wright served 21 years in the U.S. Army with a distinguished career as a helicopter pilot serving in Vietnam and many other duty stations. He received numerous awards, including the Purple Heart, Distinguish Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and three awards for Valor. After his retirement, he piloted for Bowen Enterprise for 10 years.
He was a dedicated member at The Edge Church of God in Columbia, TN, where he served on the board of directors for many years.
He loved his family and friends, especially his wife, Joy, who was his heart. Bob had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed sailing and motorcycle races in his younger years.
He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Truly.. “To know him was to love him.”
