Robert Edward Slaughter passed away on October 6, 2019, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Robert was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee to the late Wiley and Maggie Vaughn Slaughter on July 8, 1930. He loved being a Sunday School Teacher, studying the Bible, and attending church. He was a devoted husband and father, always making sure his family was taken care of. Robert was a skilled handyman having built the house that he and Betty shared for 25 years. He coached little league for several years. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Sue Cummins Slaughter of Columbia, Tennessee; son: Jeffrey (Lorrie) Slaughter of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; son: Kevin Slaughter of Columbia, Tennessee; grandsons: Christopher Lee Slaughter, Mark Anthony Slaughter, Chase Steven Slaughter; granddaughters: Amber Marie Slaughter and Ashley Corrine Slaughter; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister: Mary O’Quinn. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Mark Anthony Slaughter and Autry Slaughter; and several brother and sisters.

Services will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Williams Funeral Home, Columbia at 2:00 PM. The family will visit with friends from Noon until time of service. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
