Mr. Robert O. "Ott" McCain, age 82, resident of Lakeside Drive in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Funeral services for Mr. McCain will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Lexington, Ala., native was the son of the late Rev. Jordan Dixon McCain and Madgie Howard McCain. He was retired as a car salesman and was a Marine veteran of WW II. Mr. McCain was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also attended the Ebenezer Church.
Survivors include his children: Teresa Kenny Benderman and Steven McCain, both of Mt. Pleasant; the mother of his children: Martha Chappell McCain of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Rebecca "Beck" Walker of Hokes Bluff, Ala., and Anna Lee McClain of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Amy David McCain Harris of Columbia, Brent McCain, Brad Brandi McCain, Dana Benderman and Julie Benderman, all of Mt. Pleasant and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Robin McCain and three brothers: Ford, Andrew and J.W. McCain.
Pallbearers will be Ray McCain, Tony Geiske, Mark McCain, Jimmy Hines, John Walker and David Greenfield. Honorary pallbearers will be David Edwards, Buzz Floyd, W.M. Jaggers, Rick Ritter, Jim Hamilton, Thomas Gaby, Jim Davolio and the special staff of TCU East with the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
