Robert L. Mcdowell

Mr. Robert L. McDowell, age 81, a resident of University Drive in Columbia, passed away on Thursday, January 15, at Signature Health Care.
Funeral services for Mr. McDowell will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Billy Kimbrough officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Burial will be in the Moore Memorial Park in Arlington, TX at a later date.
The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
The Beaumont, Calif., native was the son of the late Arden McDowell and Mabel I. Fitzgerald McDowell. Mr. McDowell was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II and had an AA degree in Machine Science. He had worked as a tooling and manufacturing engineer for 34 years with General Motors. He was an active member of the senior ministry at First Baptist Church of Columbia.
Survivors include his children: Steve Terri McDowell of Spring Hill and Linda Joe Young of Euless, TX; grandchildren: Brooke Goatz, Brian McDowell and Blake McDowell, all of Columbia and Jacob Young of Euless, TX; two great-granddaughters: Chloe and Bennett of Columbia; one sister: Thelma C.A.Nickell of Anaheim, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4004 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215.
