Robert Fields

Mr. Robert Fields was born August 10, 1935 in Memphis, TN, and was the son of the late Robert and Nannie Mae Caldwell Fields. He departed into eternity on Friday, March 11, 2011 at NHC-Hillview in Columbia at age 76.

Mr. Fields completed high school in Cleveland, OH and graduated from the University of Northeastern Illinois. He was a computer analyst with IBM, a pioneer in his field. Robert served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Under the direction of Williams Funeral Home, and officiated by Rev. Alvin Anderson, funeral services for Mr. Fields will be conducted Monday, March 14, 2011 at 12:00 noon from the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Garden Mausoleum with military honors.

The family will visit with friends and relatives on Sunday, March 13, 2011 between the hours of 4-8 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia and from 11 A.M. until service time on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Mary Delpra Fields of Columbia; a son and daughter: Robert Fields and Terri Tim Dzurilla of Cleveland, OH; step-children: Leonard Moore of Cleveland, OH, Connie Leon Davis of Columbia, Christine Herman Wagner of Barston, CA, Gary Lora Cockrell and Dennis Cockrell, both of California; 2 sisters: Marilyn Harold Caldwell and Antoinette Yusuf Salaam; 4 grandchildren: Bobby Fields, Nicole Fields, Richard Smith and Tamika fields; 2 great-grandchildren: Ellis Wilson and Dominick Fields; several step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters: Janet Gibson and Loleta Morgan.

Pallbearers will be Troy Cockrell, Doyle Cockrell, Adam Cockrell, Bobby Fields, Robert Fields, and Ricky Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Brotherhood and Deacons of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
