Robert Earl Stanford

Mr. Robert Earl Stanford, age 60, a resident of Hickman Street in Columbia, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, March 27th at his home.

Funeral services for Robert will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. John W. Haywood officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery, and military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 ? 9:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

A Columbia native, Robert was the son of the late James Luther and Edna Childress Stanford. He was the husband of Beverly Ann Riggins Stanford for 39 years. A jack-of-all-trades, Robert was employed by R&E Properties since 1996. Previously, he was employed for 21 years as maintenance man at Columbia Garden Apartments. A Vietnam veteran who served in the Army, Robert was a NASCAR enthusiast who loved to spend time with his cats and critters.


In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children: Robert Wade Stanford of Nashville and Brian Keith Stanford and Christie Lyn Stanford, both of Columbia. He is also survived by two brothers: Ronnie Stanford and Jeff Stanford, both of Columbia; two sisters: Margie David Patterson and Marilyn John Brock, of Columbia; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special caregivers: Daisy and Lucy. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother: James W. Stanford, and one sister: Barbara Ann Stanford.

Pallbearers will be David Browning, Tommy Burleson, Billy Butler, Dennis Draper, Marty Kindred, Jr., Jason Riggins, Jeffrey Riggins, Larry Smithson, and Carey Dale Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Delaney, Carolyn Kennedy, and Jay Winget.
