Robert "Bobby" & Ruby Frazier

Robert “Bobby” Jones Frazier, Sr., age 76, and Ruby Dean Smith Frazier, age 75, passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident, on January 27, 2019.

Ruby was born on December 31, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, to Athol Hunter Smith, Sr., and Virginia Calvert Smith. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School, and was retired from the Maury County School System, after working as a school bus driver. Additionally, she had worked at GE and at Educational Insights. Wherever she worked, she was a very hard and diligent worker. Her number one title though, was Nanny. She was a long-time resident of the Rockdale/Sandy Hook community. She was a great cook, and could prepare a meal for the whole family and the community. She always kept an immaculate house, including keeping the laundry done, even though that was the one chore she hated. Gardening was also something that she enjoyed doing, and as with everything she did, she was very skilled at it, especially her roses; they were her favorite. In her earlier life, she was very close to her mother and her Grandmother Calvert, who shaped her into the woman she was. To her family, especially her grandchildren, she was EVERYTHING. She fulfilled all her roles with love, including raising her children and being a caregiver to her mother. Rita, being the only daughter of Robert and Ruby, was a mama’s girl. She was a woman of faith, who lived her life serving the Lord, and worshipped at Sandy Hook Church of Christ. Her family had a band, “The Frazier Band”, and she was always the Front Row #1 Fan of the band.

Bobby was born on May 6, 1942, in Lawrence County, Tennessee to Jimmy Lee and Nell Long Frazier. He was known as the best body shop man around here, having worked at several body shops over the years. He never met a stranger, and was the friendliest person you could ever meet. Having 4 sons, he enjoyed anything he could do with “His Boys”. He didn’t like being alone, instead, he loved to have company and the fellowship of others. He was a Christian man, who worshipped the Lord at Sandy Hook Church of Christ. He lived out that faith, and his character never wavered from who he was. His love of music and the band he shared with his sons became one of his most cherished memories. His most prized title, though, was PawPaw to his grandbabies.

Bobby and Ruby married in November of 1961, and enjoyed 57 years together, raising their family, loving God and each other. Bobby was a past elder of their church, Sandy Hook Church of Christ, and they worshipped there together all of their adult lives. They loved gardening together, and just like the seeds they planted in their gardens, over the years, their two families grew together as well. They loved each other’s families, and as time passed, just as they had become one when they married, so did the extended families of both. They all loved one another immensely. Together, they “had it all”. Until, they lost their beloved grandson, Drew. When they lost him, life was never the same. However, even throughout this tragic loss, their faith in the Lord never faltered.

Left to cherish the memory of Bobby and Ruby are their loving children: Robbie (Tammie) Frazier, Ronnie (Leigh) Frazier, Rita (Chris) Hughes, Randy (Dawn) Frazier, and Ricky (Dena) Frazier; grandchildren: Hannah Frazier, Jeff (Nicole) Frazier, Rachel Frazier, Christopher (Stephanie) Hughes, Allyson Hughes, Hollie Frazier, Hillary Frazier, KaLeigh (Daniel) Clifton, and HaLeigh Frazier; Great-grandchildren: Andrew Green, Kyson Frazier, Kylin Frazier, Journey Frazier, and Zeppelin Frazier; Bobby’s siblings: Mildred Allen, Nola (Raymond) Workman, and Esther (Jeff) Haygood; Ruby’s siblings: Pat (George) Shaffer, Bobby (Mary) Smith, Stanley (Wanda) Smith, and Jo (Jerry) Davis. In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by a daughter: Rhonda Darlene Frazier; and a grandson: Drew Frazier. Bobby was preceded in death by Fred Hargett, Jimmy Frazier, Gene Frazier, E. J. Frazier, Louise Riley, Shirley Hurst, and Johnny Frazier. Ruby “Nannie” was preceded in death by Hunter Smith.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services for Bobby and Ruby will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with Jeff Waldrop officiating. They will visit again, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sandy Hook Church of Christ Building Fund.

Pallbearers for Bobby will be: Eddie Bassham, John King, Webb Williams, Terry Kelly, Bubba Hurst and Raymond Workman. Pallbearers for Ruby will be: Jeff Frazier, Christopher Hughes, Bubba Clifton, Bobby Smith, Stanley Smith, and Ron Rochelle. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Attkisson, Keenan Vandygriff, Mike Adcock, Nathan Coble, Kevin Asbury, the Men of Sandy Hook Church of Christ, Cindi Brooks, and Jeff Gray.
