The memorial service for Robert Daniel Ballard, 47, of Enid, Oklahoma, will be held on Saturday, March 29, at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Family and friends will gather at noon; the service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
He was born on October 3, 1966 to Patsy J. Daniels and Jerry Lee Ballard in Memphis and passed away on March 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid after a long illness. He attended school in Omaha, Nebraska and Boulder, Colorado, finishing high school at Fairview High School in Boulder. He completed a welding program at Boulder Vocational-Technical School.
He entered the National Guard and served for six years until being honorably discharged. He lived in the Nashville area before moving to Enid in 1999. He worked in construction, in roofing, and in the oil fields in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Marie Ballard Jackson, of Florence, Mississippi; mother, Patsy J. Daniels, and step-father, Jerry L. Jackson, both of Florence; brother, Jerry Lee Ballard, Jr. of Columbia; and step-sister and brother-in-law, Alicia Jackson Payne and Andrew Payne, of Dickson, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lee Ballard, Sr.
He leaves behind several aunts and uncles: Peggy Ann Daniels Nolan of Joelton, Tenn.; Dorothy Truter Daniels of Peoria, Ariz.; Randall S. Daniels of Chapmansboro, Tenn.; Johnny and Linda Lou Ballard Dugger of Mt. Pleasant; Larry G. and Faye Nichols Ballard of Mt. Pleasant; and fifteen first cousins.
All four grandparents preceded him in death: John D. and Retha Stanfill Daniels of Nashville, and Robert L. and Mary Lou Burch Ballard of Mt. Pleasant.
