Ricky Burks

Ricky Gene Burks, 49, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. A native of Lawrence County, Ricky lived a life filled with love, generosity, and passion for the things that truly mattered—his family, his faith, and his music.

Ricky was a man of strong will and unwavering honesty, traits that shaped the foundation of his relationships and life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, willing giving the very shirt off his back to anyone in need. His generosity was matched only by his deep devotion to his family, with whom he loved spending time.

He found joy in mechanic work, often retreating to his tools and projects as a way to clear his mind and focus his energy. But Ricky was not all work—he loved to let loose, headbanging and jamming out to Metallica and other classic metal bands alongside his daughter. Sharing music with those he loved brought him immense joy, and his passion for those cherished moments will forever echo in the hearts of his family and friends.

Above all, Ricky was a loving father and wonderful son who cherished his role in guiding and supporting his children and grandchildren. His Christian faith was a source of strength and inspiration, grounding him through the joys and challenges of life.

Ricky’s kind heart, selfless spirit, and the unforgettable memories he created will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though his time here was far too short, his impact will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, Ricky. May the music you loved continue to play on in the hearts of those who cherished you.

Ricky is survived by his daughter: Lexus Burks of Lawrenceburg, TN; son: Cody Burks of Lawrenceburg, TN; father: Ricky (Debbie) Burks; sister: Amy Churchwell of Lawrenceburg and 2 grandchildren. Ricky is preceded in death by his mother Vera Jeanette Crews.
