Richard Guy Stacy Jr., age 54, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 11, 2022. Rick was born September 10, 1968, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Carolyn Stafford Cox and Richard Guy Stacy Sr. He graduated from the University of Mississippi to become a Doctor of Dentistry and was a dedicated Ole Miss fan—Hotty Toddy!
Rick was a larger-than-life person: boisterous, confident, intellectual, musical, and wickedly funny. He was a man of eclectic taste and varied interests, and he could command a room, making everyone laugh with one quick-witted remark. His cynical humor at times pushed the boundaries; however, smiles couldn’t help but spread onto the faces of people around him. Along with his wit, Rick has been honing his skills as a guitarist since he was a young man. The walls of his home still echo with the sounds of hair metal and blues. Music was one of his greatest passions in life. The only thing to surpass this love was his family—especially his kids. Inside his home stood testaments to that love: art on the fridge, photos on the mantle, and keepsakes on the shelves.
Rick loved deeply and, if you were one of his people, you knew—likely because he shared some of his love through his cooking. He not only had a deft hand on six strings, but he could wield a knife and manage a grill with precision. He was someone who was dedicated to those that he kept around him—warm and comforting.
Rick Stacy was taken from this world too soon. He will live on through not only the memories that he’s made with family but also stories and recipes that will be shared for years to come.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Daniel & Hannah Stacy, Andrew Stacy, and Rachel Stacy; mother Carolyn Stafford Cox; father Richard Stacy Sr.; and siblings Susan Stacy, Bryant Cox, and Trent Cox.
A graveside service for Rick will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tennessee.
Pallbearers are Daniel Stacy, Andrew Stacy, Bryant Cox, and Michael Morgan.
The care of Mr. Rick Stacy and his family have been entrusted to the staff of Williams Funeral Home. To share words of comfort and condolences, please visit
