Richard David “Pops” Steel, age 75, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Pops was born on November 6, 1940 in Swartz Creek, Michigan to Eugene Steel and Norma Ruby Steel. Many knew him as Pops or Rick. Everyone knew him or knew of him. He was the life of the party and sweeter than he realized. Pops placed his memories with everyone. While everyone just saw the joker on the surface, he was so full of love. He wanted everyone to be happy. He worked at Northwest Protective Coating as a bridge painter. Pops was a good man.
A memorial service to celebrate Pops life will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Following the service, the family will visit with friends at The Other Bar from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Pops is survived by his children Paula (Kenneth) Wissinger, David (Karen) Steel), Richard (Shelley) Steel, Ryan Steel, John L. Williams, and Judy Wiggins; grandchildren Ryan Steel, Aaron Ellsworth, Joanna Steel, Lukas Steel, Brandy Steel, Stephanie Steel, Samantha Boshers, and Erin Wissinger; and great-grandchildren Alexa, Diana, Champ, Chloe, Israel, Cole, Isabella, Jasmine, Avery, Anniston, Gavin, and Jackson.
