Richard Parker Johnson

Richard Parker Johnson, Jr. was born on May 16, 1926 in Ellisville, Mississippi to the late Richard Parker Johnson, Sr. and the late Thelma Pilot Johnson. He married Kelly Jean Carter Johnson on November 24, 1948 and they had two children together.

Mr. Johnson served honorably in World War II as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a military aircraft crew member. He later served in the Civil Air Patrol with the Georgia Wing as a Commandant of Cadets. He retired in 1968 from the Department of Defense having worked in electronics and missiles.

Richard Johnson was dearly loved by his wife and family. He was a devoted family man and Christian having attended West End Baptist Church in Columbia, since retiring here a few years ago.

Mr. Johnson passed away at home with his devoted wife by his side on Friday, June 22, 2012.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Jeanie Johnson of Franklin and Richard P. Dr. Cheryl Johnson, III; his grandchildren: Jennifer Johnson, Richard P. Johnson, IV, Jessica Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Kelli Michelle Howard Smith, Kirsten Tony Humphrey, and Luke Anderson; great-grandchildren: Jackson Humphrey, Timothy, Joshua and Andrew Smith; his brother: Douglas Bobera Johnson; brother-in-law: George Finison and sister-in-law: Dot Johnson. He is preceded in death by his sister: Jean Finison and his brother: Ben Ray Johnson.

The family will celebrate Richard's life with a private service and he will be inurned at the Middle Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
