Mr. Richard Mitchell, age 80, a resident of Redwood Circle in Columbia, passed away Saturday at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Columbia with Rev. Charles Blythe officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 Am until service time at the church.
Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with services.
Born December 28, 1929 in Lansing, MI, son of the late Jackson McKinley and Anna Darr Mitchell and the husband of Angelita Rodriguez Mitchell. Richard and Angelita were married for 56 years on March 16. He worked for the city of Lansing, MI in the Parks and Recreation Department; he loved the YMCA and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Eddie Brenda Mitchell of Warsaw, KY, Jeannie Tom Myers of Drummond Island, MI, Paul Tina Mitchell of Columbia and Anna Sue Mitchell of Charlotte, MI; grandchildren: Jason Jennifer Myers, Erik Myers, Scott Jodi Myers, Paul Crystal Mitchell II, Shina James Lewis; 7 great grandchildren; brother: Norman Joyce Mitchell of Portland, MI; his faithful friend and companion: Laddie. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Darian Wayne Mitchell, and several brothers and sisters.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Mitchell II and James Lewis.
