Mr. Richard E. Stanfill, 69, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his residence on the Culleoka Highway in the Glendale Community.
Services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Alexander and Rev. Charles Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Hubert and Gladys Brady Stanfill. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Maury County Highway Department. In his early life he was a farmer and was a timber cutter for many years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Wayne Stanfill of Santa Fe; a special niece, Barbara Tony Williams of Lynnville; great nephew, Nathan Lewis of Lynnville; great niece, Angela Williams of Lynnville; special friend of nineteen years, Virginia Cates of the Glendale Community; two step daughters, Sheila Lynn Stewart of Columbia and Bethany Cates Hunt of the Glendale Community; a granddaughter whom he raised, Caitlin Jade Potts of the Glendale Community. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Potts of Kinderhook, Rebecca Pigg of Dickson, and Betty Mai Lewis of Columbia; two brothers, Leonard Thomas Stanfill of Columbia and Paul Stanfill of North Carolina.
Pallbearers will be Tony Williams, Nathan Lewis, Oscar Dial Priest, Mark Priest, Hal Hardison, and Daniel Walls. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilburn Davidson, Shirley Davidson, and the employees of the Maury County Highway Department.
